Stop vandalism of public facilities

Blantyre City Council has noted with regret the vandalising and stealing of steel street lighting poles along the following roads: Kameza Roundabout to Chileka Airport, Kenyatta Drive from Kanjedza Roundabout to Kwacha Roundabout, Moi Road and Thyolo Road from Midima Roundabout to Chigumula Market.

We would like to appeal to all residents and members of the public to join hands with the Council in guarding these safety and security facilities by reporting those suspected to have been vandalising or stealing the poles to us or Police.

Notice of closure of drinking joints

We continue to take precautions in relation to COVID-19 pandemic. In view of this, the following facilities are closed with immediate effect:
.Taverns
.Bars/bottlestores
.Shabeens and all drinking joints
Liquor shops are restricted to takeaway. We will revoke Business Premises Licence of any facility that does not comply with these restrictions.

Public notice on illegal developments in the City

Blantyre City Council has noted with dismay illegal developments mushrooming in the City. Some of these illegal developments are hanging of banners, installation of signposts and bill boards, excavating trenches to install cables and other facilities, rearing of livestock, fixing advertising materials on walls, trees and poles and playing loud music to advertise goods, services and for any other purposes.

Ban of the sale of fresh maize in the City

Blantyre City Council has received several complaints of robbery in maize fields in the City and surrounding areas. The malpractice is attributed to the availability of a market for green maize in the City.
