BLANTYRE CITY COUNCIL REMINDS BUSINESSES TO RENEW LICENSES
Blantyre City Council on 5 March 2026 held a press briefing in Blantyre reminding business owners that business premises licenses for the current year will expire on 31 March 2026.
The Council has therefore urged business owners to renew their licenses effective 1 April 2026 to continue operating legally. Licensing helps the Council monitor illegal businesses and also enables business owners to use valid licenses as surety when applying for loans from banks.
Macronnex George Kaulembe, Director of Commerce, Trade and Industry at Blantyre City Council, encouraged businesses to comply with the requirement.
“We urge all business owners to renew their business licenses before the deadline so that their businesses remain compliant and regulated,” he said.
The Council also reminded business owners that payments should only be made at the Civic Offices, where official receipts are issued. Business operators have been warned not to give money or forms to anyone outside the official counters, as the Council will not be responsible for transactions made away from the banking hall.
The Council is encouraging the business community to take advantage of the open renewal window and ensure their businesses are properly regulated.
