BLANTYRE CITY COUNCIL RECEIVES ROAD MARKING MATERIALS FROM TOTALENERGIES
Today, 27 May 2026, Blantyre City Council received a donation of road marking materials from TotalEnergies to support the painting of pedestrian crossings within the Central Business District (CBD). The donation included 35 litres of white paint, 35 litres of yellow paint, and 15 litres of thinners.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Vice Mayor Councillor Gerald Lipikwe commended TotalEnergies Malawi for the timely support, saying the donation will help improve road safety for pedestrians and motorists within the City.
“This donation comes at a very important time when the Council is intensifying efforts to improve road safety within the CBD. Clearly marked pedestrian crossings are critical in reducing road accidents and protecting lives,” said Councillor Lipikwe.
Sekaninge Kaliati, Corporate Affairs Manager for TotalEnergies, said the company remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote safety and community wellbeing.
Chief Executive Officer for Blantyre City Council, Costly Chanza, thanked TotalEnergies Malawi for their unwavering support towards the Council’s initiatives.

Their unwavering commitment to supporting community initiatives demonstrates the importance of strong partnerships in creating a safer and more organised city environment for residents and visitors alike,” said Chanza.
The Council expressed gratitude for the continued partnership, noting that the donated materials will help improve the visibility of pedestrian crossings and contribute to safer roads in Blantyre City.
