Blantyre City Council Recognizes Excellence In Education: Teachers and Schools Honored
On 4th December 2024, Blantyre City Council, with sponsorship from First Capital Bank, hosted an awards ceremony celebrating the outstanding achievements of teachers and schools in the Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education (PSLCE) 2024. The event acknowledged the invaluable contributions of educators who continue to shape the future of Blantyre and Malawi at large.
Patience Linzi of Chichiri LEA led the winners in Category 1: Getting Cash, earning MK226,000 for guiding her students to achieve 113 distinctions. Other high achievers included Samuel Kachimanga of Namasimba Primary School with MK124,000 and Regina Mtunda of Chilomoni LEA, who received MK106,000.
Speaking at the ceremony, Blantyre City Council CEO, Mr. Dennis Chinseu, applauded the teachers for their commitment to excellence:
“Teachers are the cornerstone of our children’s success. Since the awards started, they have propelled Blantyre Urban from position 34 to position 18 in national exams. While this is commendable, I challenge our teachers to aim higher and place Blantyre in the top five. We are grateful to First Capital Bank for their continued support in recognizing and motivating our educators.”
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Twikale Chirwa, Head of Marketing and Communications for First Capital Bank, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to education:
