Nico Blantyre Mayor’s Trophy 2024 Crowns Young Sports Champions

One NICO Blantyre Mayor’s Trophy 2024 finals took place on 13th December 2024, bringing together vibrant young talent in an electrifying display of sportsmanship and skill.

Namasimba Primary School emerged as football champions, edging Makata Primary in post-match penalties 4-3 after a zero-all draw in regular play, taking home MK1,000,000. Makata Primary School secured the runners-up position with MK700,000 as a cash prize.

In netball, St. Maria Gorret Primary School claimed a 19-15 victory over Mbayani Primary. St. Maria Gorret, who has now won the netball championships twice in a row, went home with MK700,000, followed by Mbayani Primary School as runners-up, who were awarded MK500,000.

This remarkable event highlighted the city’s commitment to empowering the youth and nurturing future sports stars.
