Stormy rains that fell persistently from 4th to 8th March, 2019 had disastrous impacts on human lives, houses, roads, schools and other critical infrastructures in Blantyre City. Following the declaration of the Country being a State of Disaster, rapid assessment was conducted to verify the extent of damage. Through the assessment, it was found that 62 290 people (14,831 household) were affected, 322 people were injured and 3 people died after walls collapsed on them.
NICO Holdings Plc donated K5 million while FDH Bank donated K3 million towards disaster management in the City.
